Volunteer

As a small nonprofit, our volunteers play a vital role in maintaining our programmes. In roles where volunteers interact directly with refugee participants, our volunteers mainly assist by providing encouragement, company, and support. We require a regular commitment in order to help build trusting relationships and to create a safe environment for our community.

Our volunteers support us in the following key ways:

  • Assisting in our weekly adults’ sports activities (Tuesday morning women’s hiking/swimming/other sports, Thursday evening mixed gender track training);

  • Assisting in our weekly kids activities (Monday afternoon homework help and sports);

  • Caring for young children while their mothers participate in our programmes (Tuesday morning);

  • Providing study support to adult participants;

  • Offering communications support in the form of translation, design, and photography/videography.

RUN’s participants are some of the most vulnerable refugees in Hong Kong. In order to protect our participants, volunteers must sign and adhere to our Volunteer Code of Conduct Policy. In addition, volunteers must attend our Trauma and Self-Care workshops, which are led by a qualified psychologist.

Volunteers must attend a mandatory orientation session we hold twice a year depending on need. If you are interested in volunteering with RUN, please complete our Volunteer Interest Form, and we will notify you of our next orientation session.

If you are a company or school looking for group volunteering activities, please contact us at info@runhk.org.
