Education Programme

We empower our participants to nurture self-reliance through skills development, preparation for re-entry into the workforce, and access to work opportunities.

Our Education Programme helps our participants to restore independence and dignity through education and training to prepare for re-entry into the workforce. While refugees and asylum seekers are generally not allowed to work here, learning new skills and developing professionally means that they improve their chances of securing stable employment in their future country of resettlement and ultimately building a better future for themselves and their families.

* In Hong Kong, refugees and asylum seekers are generally not allowed to work, but we have been able to obtain exceptional authorisation for employment and learning internships for some participants on a case-by-case basis.

  • Foundational Skills

    Foundational Skills

We provide in-houses classes, both group and individual, in English, computer/IT, and math. These classes provide participants with essential skills and knowledge for further professional development. The course content in our foundational classes includes topics such as English conversation, targeted IELTS and language exam preparation, CV and cover letter writing, and business communication skills. RUN teachers also provide valuable support to participants who are enrolled in online learning or external educational programmes.

  • Professional Development

    Professional Development

We work with each participant to develop an individualised professional development plan based on their education, work experience, and interests. Participants are given the opportunity to study new careers in fields such as elderly caregiving and urban farming. We regularly organise external professional development workshops with local business partners to help participants develop soft skills such as interview preparation. Whether it's continuing education or specialised vocational training, we work to find opportunities that help participants grow their skills in their desired industry area and enhance their CVs.

  • Work Experience

    Work Experience

Having relevant work experience significantly helps our participants to find employment after resettlement. Although refugees generally cannot work in Hong Kong, we have obtained exceptional authorisation for some of our participants to work, volunteer, or take advantage of learning internships. Additionally, for our participants who are interested in entrepeneurship, we organise workshops to support them to learn about product design, marketing, and various aspects of running a business.

“I feel like I am valuable when I learn new skills and can make beautiful and useful products by myself. I can do something. Once I learn new skills, the skill will never die. I can stand on my own two feet and support myself.”
