These are extraordinary times and all of us have been pushed to adapt, innovate, and overcome challenges. For the RUN team and our participants, one of the key ways we’ve gotten through these trying times is by getting out on the trails, breathing in the outdoor air, and strengthening our bodies.

Like many other event organisers, we’ve had to postpone our RUN Charity Race (our biggest fundraiser each year!), but we’re determined to run together with you, even while we remain apart. This October, join us for a virtual Resilience Run #WithRefugees, where we run to celebrate the resilient spirit of refugees and asylum seekers, and the wider Hong Kong community!

We know that everyone has been hit hard, so while our goal is to raise much needed funding for our programmes, we also want to make this accessible to as many people as possible during this challenging time. Our registration fees for the event are ‘give as you can’. 100% of the money raised will go towards our mission of rehabilitating refugees through sports, education, and beyond. More specifically, funds raised will enable us to stay responsive to the needs of our participants during the pandemic and provide additional food, medical, housing, and psychological support during this time.

1. How will the funds raised be used?
100% of the funds raised from the Resilience Run #WithRefugees will go towards our mission of rehabilitating refugees through sports, education, and beyond. More specifically, we are fundraising to cover the costs of the additional support we are providing to our participants during the pandemic. This includes healthy food supplies that we distribute weekly and emergency support for housing and medical care. We are also offering more support to our women participants (especially those who are single mothers) who are facing increased levels of stress due to the pandemic, which includes transportation for psychologist visits and babysitting.

2. Is there a difference between the different registration fees?
There is no difference in your race experience based on the registration fees (with the exception of the HK$1,000 registration, which comes with a complimentary RUN buff). Our goal in choosing a ‘give what you can’ structure is to fundraise for our programmes for refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong, while making our event accessible to as many people as possible during this challenging time.

3. Can I give more than HK$1,000?
You can absolutely donate more than HK$1,000. When you register, you’ll have a chance to donate more. Thank you for your generosity!

4. Are there prizes?
Yes! Our participants will be making custom one-of-a-kind trophies for the top three runners in each of the seven categories.

5. Do I have to use Strava?
You don’t have to use Strava to track your run. However, to be counted in the leaderboard and to qualify for prizes, you will need to use Strava OR upload the results from your preferred tracking app to Strava before midnight on Sunday, 25th October.

6. How will I know my progress?
Once you join our private Strava club for your category, you’ll be able to see a leaderboard of the other competitors in your category. We’ll also email out the official leaderboard every couple of days throughout the two weeks.

7. Can I run more than once?
Yes! You can run your chosen distance as many times as you like within the race period to try to get your best personal time. We will use your best time on the final leaderboard. If you want to compete in multiple categories, you’ll have to register separately for each category.

8. What if I can’t make it? Can I get a refund?
Registrations/donations are non-refundable.
